{"id":4802,"date":"2014-03-28T13:06:59","date_gmt":"2014-03-28T13:06:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theathenaeum.org.uk\/?p=4802"},"modified":"2014-04-02T08:45:19","modified_gmt":"2014-04-02T08:45:19","slug":"light-night-2014-friday-16th-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/enda.studiodev.co.uk\/wp\/light-night-2014-friday-16th-may\/","title":{"rendered":"Light Night 2014 &#8211; Friday 16th May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Light Night 2014 is on Friday 16th May and this year it gives a rare opportunity for the public to see the magnificent library of the Athenaeum, which has been described as the finest room in northern England.\u00a0 The library contains over 60,000 volumes, many of which are very old and very rare.\u00a0 On Light night some of these will be brought out of storage and be on display for visitors.\u00a0 Ranging in date from the fourteenth to the twenty first century this is an opportunity to see medieval manuscripts, rare early printed books, the first edition of Bradshaw\u2019s railway guide, Florence Nightingale\u2019s autograph and many others&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The library will be open to visitors between 7pm and 9.30pm with pre-booked guided tours every half hour; 7:00pm, 7.30pm, 8.00pm, 8.30pm &amp; 9.00pm.
