Of Human Bondage’: Diana Lane on Somerset Maugham’s semi-autobiographical novel. When ‘Of Human Bondage’ was       published in 1915, Somerset Maugham was at the height of his popularity and fame as a writer of plays, short stories and novels. Since then he has rather fallen out of fashion. Diana’s talk will give us an insight into the writer and his work, reminding some of an old favourite and introducing    others to him for the first time.
